Lag, rubber-banding and “high ping” warnings rarely come down to your download number. This page runs the same full test as the home page, then checks your result against what fast-paced online play actually needs.
What actually causes lag
For shooters and fighting games, the chain is ping first, jitter second, packet loss third — and bandwidth a distant fourth. A stable 50 Mbps line at 15 ms will beat a 1 Gbps line at 90 ms every time. Run the test, then watch the ping and jitter tiles, not the big number.
Quick fixes if your ping is high
Plug into the router with Ethernet, close background downloads, switch to the 5 GHz WiFi band, and pick the closest game server region. Test again after each change to see which one moved the needle.
